Resin Driveways
An eye pleasing alternative to loose gravel, concrete and brick.
A resin driveway is an attractive alternative to loose gravel, concrete and brick – and Crown Driveways are Yorkshire’s number one resin driveway installers.
The aggregates can be overlaid onto new or existing concrete or tarmac foundations and look great when used in conjunction with block paving patios.
Available in a wide range of colours and textures to blend in with the surrounding area, resin is a low-maintenance way to provide an eye-catching finish to your driveway surface.

Resin-bound paving is renowned for being a durable long-lasting surface. Crown Driveways are proud to offer a 10-year guarantee but with proper maintenance, we are confident your resin-bound surface can last for more than 25 years.
Is a resin bound driveway cheaper than tarmac?
Tarmac and resin driveway costs are similar but a big advantage with resin-bound surfaces are that they can be installed directly onto solid surfaces – thus saving money on groundwork which is often needed when laying tarmac.
Furthermore, tarmac-bound gravel tends to be a more permeable surface, meaning future work is often required to address weathering and cracks, whereas resin-bound driveways are more low maintenance.

What are the other benefits of a resin driveway?
Tarmac nowadays is widely regarded as being made from poorer-quality materials than it once was, meaning it is more prone to weathering issues such as cracks. Tarmac has also been known to melt during periods of hot weather, whereas UV-stable resin will give your driveway a smooth finish in all weather conditions.
Another advantage of resin-bound surfaces compared to tarmac is that they are available in a wide range of colour aggregates to match the existing aesthetic of your garden and property.
Resin drives also provide a natural filtration compared to tarmac or concrete as surface or standing rainwater seeps through the sub-base, and a natural filtration system takes place. This means contamination caused by oils and metals are removed; as are standing water puddles, reducing the risk of surface water runoff and flash flooding, making resin a more sustainable urban drainage system.
Another reason why resin bonded surfaces require very little maintenance is that they are incredibly easy to clean due to their smooth surface. Other driveways types such as tarmac, crushed stone and crushed glass are uneven, meaning they do not lend themselves to cleaning by a pressure washer, whereas a resin-bound driveway can be cleaned with ease.
Planning permission is also not required for resin areas less than 5 square metres due to legislation passed in 2008 concerning the permeability of resin surfaces.
How are resin driveways made?
Resin-bound surfacing is comprised of naturally-sourced aggregates and is blended with UV stable resin which enhances its appearance and makes the driveway resistant to UV light damage.
